Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
eMockTest ("we", "us", "our") operates the website emocktest.com and its Android application (together, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights available to you. By using the Platform you agree to this Policy.
We comply with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), and follow GDPR-aligned principles of lawfulness, data minimisation, purpose limitation and user control.
1. Data We Collect
We collect only what is required to operate an examination-practice service:
- Account information — your name, which you provide at registration.
- Email address — used as your login identity and for account-related communication.
- Phone number — optional; used only for support and payment receipts where applicable.
- Password — never stored in readable form. Passwords are hashed using a one-way bcrypt algorithm. Nobody at eMockTest can read your password.
- Test history — the tests you attempt, your selected answers, scores, percentages and timestamps, used to generate your report cards and progress statistics.
- Payment information — order identifiers, payment identifiers, amounts and payment status. We never receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or net-banking credentials. All payment credentials are handled directly by our payment gateway.
- Device and log information — IP address, browser or app version and general device type, recorded for security, fraud prevention and rate limiting.
- Communications — messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to create and secure your account, deliver mock tests and generate results, process purchases and grant access to paid content, respond to support requests, prevent abuse and fraud, meet legal and tax obligations, and improve the reliability of the Platform. We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal effects, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use a small number of cookies: an essential session cookie that keeps you logged in (without it, login cannot function), and a referral cookie that remembers an affiliate link for up to 30 days so referrals are credited correctly. Where analytics tools are enabled, they may set their own cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; essential cookies are required for login and purchases to work.
4. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics services (such as Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity) to understand aggregate usage — for example which pages are popular and where errors occur. These services process data such as IP address, pages viewed and approximate location. We do not link analytics data to your exam answers.
5. Third-Party Services
- Razorpay — payment processing. Razorpay is a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway and processes your payment credentials under its own privacy policy.
- Hosting provider — our servers and database are hosted with a commercial hosting provider located in India.
- Analytics providers — where enabled, as described above.
- Google Play — if you install our Android application, Google processes installation data under its own policies.
These providers act as processors for the limited purposes described. We do not authorise them to use your data for their own marketing.
6. Data Security
We protect your data using HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, one-way bcrypt password hashing, prepared database statements to prevent injection attacks, CSRF protection on all state-changing forms, session cookies marked HttpOnly and SameSite, rate limiting and brute-force protection on login endpoints, and access control that restricts administrative functions to authorised staff. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we review and improve our controls regularly.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and test history for as long as your account remains active. Payment and invoice records are retained for the period required by Indian tax and accounting law (currently up to eight years) even after account deletion, because we are legally obliged to keep them. Security and access logs are retained for a limited period and then purged.
8. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your account and personal data, withdraw consent for optional processing, object to specific processing, and receive a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any right, email support@emocktest.com from your registered email address. We respond within 30 days.
9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account yourself at any time from Dashboard → Profile → Delete Account, or by following the instructions on our Account Deletion page. On deletion we permanently remove your personal identifiers, test history, saved progress, device sessions and affiliate records. Financial transaction records are retained in anonymised form only where the law requires. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
10. Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for candidates preparing for government recruitment examinations and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Users under 18 should use the Platform only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. International Users
Our services are operated from India and data is stored on servers located in India. If you access the Platform from outside India, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in India.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in law or our services. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
